Scottish Breakfast from Mark T. Wendell

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

85 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This tea does not have a strong aroma either in the can or in the cup. Not very malty in flavor, and just ever so slightly astringent. It brews up nice and clear with a very clean taste. Its a nice cup in the morning, but does not have the kick of an Assam tea.

Buddha teaches all things in moderation. This tea fits the bill. The jasmine is just right, not overpowering, not hidden. It's a nice tea for reading, or studying. I got this as a sample in my last MTW order and will order it again. I like it.

I got a sample of this in my last order from MTW. It looks just like the photo on the web page, not CTC but not whole leaf either. Looks like it came from a teabag.

I brewed it 4 minutes using boiling water per instructions. It had a slightly muddy appearance. The main impression was astringency, that coated the ton...

Got a sample of this online. It's a very dark brown, with some gold highlights. Brews up a clear dark red. I'm not so good at describing aroma and flavor, so I'll just say it smells and tastes like really good tea.

It's very smooth, just a hint of sweetness with no bitterness or astringency. It doesn't seem to have ...

This came in my second order from Mark T. Wendell. It looks nice in the tin, dark brown and gold mixed together. It has a pleasant faint smell. After steeping for 4 minutes it produces a deep red color. The aroma remains faint. The taste is smooth and very good with a peppery component that others have mentioned. It's ...

This is the second tea I ordered from MTW. It is not a CTC product. The aroma on opening the tin is earthy and quite pleasant. I brewed it this morning, according to the website directions, for 5 minutes. It came out a beautiful red with an aroma like, well, tea. The taste is a big improvement over the big brand teas I...

Full disclosure: I'm not really qualified to review teas, but...
I switched from coffee to tea a while back. I graduated to loose leaf not long ago. The only loose tea I could find was Twinings English Breakfast, which I enjoyed. Cruising the internet looking for a new teapot I came across Mark T. Wendell, which was a...
