Oolong Tea: Jade Oolong

Jade Oolong, commonly called Dong Ding or Tung Ting, is a greener style of oolong tea originating in Nantou, Taiwan. It is more oxidized than pouchong tea but less than amber oolong. The name "Dong Ding" means "frozen summit"; the tea is named after Dong Ding mountain in Nantou.
Jade oolong leaves tend to be light green in color, and the brewed tea is clear, aromatic, and naturally sweet. Jade oolong tends to be among one of the most expensive teas. It has a distinctive aroma and although teas marketed as jade oolongs are widely variable in quality, they tend to be recognizable as the style. Its aroma could be described as similar to pouchong but less vegetal.
The term "Jade oolong" is also sometimes used to refer to green Tie Guan Yin.
