Stash Tea is a tea company headquartered in Tigard, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Stash was founded in 1972 as a small business, operated out of a house, which provided loose teas in bulk to local natural food stores. The company has since grown to become one of the largest providers of specialty tea in the U.S. In 1993, Stash was acquired by Yamamotoyama in what the Portland Business Journal described as a "bitter takeover battle".[1]
Stash Teas are available by mail-order, and are also widely available in supermarkets, stores, and coffee shops. Although the company started out selling loose tea in bulk, and it still sells loose tea, it now sells tea in teabags as well, and its teabags are much more widely available than its loose teas.
